What's Opening, Reopening, and Worth Walking to in Corte Madera This Season

August 6, 2026

For a town whose commercial life has stayed remarkably steady for years, Corte Madera is having an unusually busy summer. Three restaurants are moving in along a half-mile stretch of Tamal Vista and Town Center, a Swiss athletic brand is taking a 4,000-square-foot storefront at The Village, and Menke Park is finishing a renovation that has quietly displaced one of the town's oldest weekly traditions. If you live here, the map of where you eat, shop, and spend a Wednesday evening is about to look different than it did in May.

The through-line most residents haven't put together

Any one of these openings would be worth a mention. Taken together, they suggest something more specific: the town's three anchor destinations are all reshuffling at once. Town Center is filling a food vacancy at the same time The Village is landing a national athletic tenant, and the Tamal Vista corridor between them is picking up two new restaurants that will change the mid-week dinner calculus for anyone who has been defaulting to the same three places for a decade. Menke Park's return in late summer closes the loop by giving the Piccolo Pavilion back to the community concerts that were displaced during construction.

Below is what's landing, when, and why each one is worth noticing.

Tamal Vista is quietly becoming a restaurant row

The corridor along Tamal Vista Boulevard has always had a working, in-between quality. That's changing.

Melo's Italian Table is slated to open a new location at 55 Tamal Vista Boulevard in Corte Madera, according to a recent California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control license filing. The family-owned restaurant is led by Gaetano Piccolo along with John Paul Piccolo, Erin Piccolo, Erica Piccolo, Olga Coelho Piccolo, and business partner Dominic Cianfarini. The Walnut Creek original leans on handcrafted pizzas, house-made pastas, fresh salads, and classic Italian entrées inspired by Southern Italian recipes, with Calabrian roots on the wine and dessert side.

A few blocks away, the drive-thru format that used to feel out of character for Corte Madera has quietly arrived. Super Duper Burgers is now open in Corte Madera, bringing its lineup of handcrafted burgers, house-made buns, and classic California flavors to Marin. The drive-thru is the notable part. Marin has very few of them, and residents who have been driving to Mill Valley or San Rafael for a fast counter meal now have one within town limits.

For a corridor that has historically been defined by service businesses and Pig in a Pickle's smokehouse, two food openings in a single season is a meaningful shift.

Town Center is filling a gap in its food lineup

Town Center's tenant mix has always tilted toward home goods and everyday retail, with restaurants clustered around the center court. That court is about to get one of its more anticipated additions.

Asian Box will debut at 100 Corte Madera Town Center this Fall. Founded in 2011 by Chad Newton and his wife, chef Gracie Nguyen, Asian Box is a California-based fast-casual chain offering gluten-free, customizable Vietnamese-inspired street food made with fresh, sustainably sourced ingredients. For a center whose fast-casual options have skewed heavily American and Italian, a Vietnamese concept built around bowls and wraps fills a real hole in the mid-week takeout rotation.

The center's calendar is worth re-reading if you haven't in a while. The Wednesday farmers' market runs 11 AM to 5 PM in the center court through the summer, and the annual Summer Music Series takes over on the first Thursday of each month, June through August, from 4 to 6 PM with local musicians. Both are free, and both are the kind of thing that quietly gets absorbed into a weekly routine once you go once.

The Village lands a September opener

The Village at Corte Madera's roster of national brands has been growing steadily, and it is about to add one more. On, the Swiss performance footwear brand, will open at 1702 Redwood Highway, Space 039 in September. The store will be a 4,000-square-foot retail space, carrying the brand's full assortment.

The context matters. The Corte Madera store is one of four California locations the company announced, along with planned stores in San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles. That puts Corte Madera in the same tier as the three largest metros in the state for On's West Coast expansion. That is a specific vote of confidence in the shopping catchment this town pulls from.

Menke Park comes back, and the concerts follow

The most locally significant reopening this summer isn't a restaurant or a store. It's a park.

Performances will be held at Town Park while Menke Park is under renovation. Once construction is complete, concerts will return to the Piccolo Pavilion in Menke Park.

That is the note the Marin Convention and Visitors Bureau posted alongside the 2026 concert schedule. The Corte Madera Community Foundation continues its long-standing tradition of bringing live music to the community with the 2026 Corte Madera Summer Concert Series. Concerts take place from 5:00 to 6:30 PM and are free to attend. Performances have been held at Town Park while Menke Park is under renovation, with concerts expected to return to the Piccolo Pavilion in Menke Park once construction is complete in late July.

If you have been attending the concerts at Town Park all summer, the venue is about to change back. If you skipped the season because the Piccolo Pavilion was closed, the remaining dates are the ones to catch.

The Corte Madera Town Band, now in its fourth decade, remains one of the reliable presences here. Its calendar has included Town Park summer performances and the annual July 4 parade, which each year runs from Redwood High School in Larkspur and ends at Corte Madera Town Center. Food booths at that parade typically feature Pig in a Pickle, World Wrapps, the Lion's Club, and Stefano's pizza, which is a fair snapshot of the town's food identity in a single lineup.

A quick season-at-a-glance

What Where When
Super Duper Burgers drive-thru Corte Madera Now open
Farmers' market Town Center, center court Wednesdays, 11 AM–5 PM
Summer Music Series Town Center First Thursday, June–August, 4–6 PM
Summer Concert Series Menke Park (Piccolo Pavilion), returning from Town Park 5–6:30 PM, free
On store opening The Village, 1702 Redwood Hwy September 2026
Asian Box opening 100 Corte Madera Town Center Fall 2026
Melo's Italian Table 55 Tamal Vista Blvd ABC filing on file; opening pending

What this actually changes for a resident

Three openings and one reopening in one season is unusual for a town of this size. Beyond the novelty, there are practical shifts worth naming.

The Wednesday dinner default gets more options. Between Melo's arriving on Tamal Vista and Asian Box landing at Town Center, mid-week takeout expands in both directions from the existing anchors of Burmatown, Boca Pizzeria, Cafe Verde, and Fieldwork Brewing. Burmatown, incidentally, still holds its Michelin Guide listing, which is the sort of detail that gets forgotten between visits.

The walking geography changes. Anyone who has been driving to The Village for athletic shoes will find a full-line On store there in September, alongside the existing lineup of Nordstrom, REI, Athleta, lululemon, and Vuori. That is a lot of technical footwear and apparel within one open-air center.

The park calendar normalizes. Once the Piccolo Pavilion reopens, the Wednesday farmers' market at Town Center and the Sunday concerts at Menke Park settle back into the rhythm they held before construction. If you moved to Corte Madera during the renovation window, this is the first summer you will see the town's concert tradition in its usual home.

Corte Madera has always rewarded people who pay attention to the small texture of a season. This one has more texture than most.

If you or someone you know is thinking about the year ahead in Corte Madera or elsewhere in central Marin and wants a candid conversation about the local market, Holly Welch is here for it. Let's Connect.
